[Announcement] The Big Sweep of 2011

Dear all,

As you can see, LSS has changed. Like: a lot. Perhaps you'll find it all bothersome, perhaps you're excited or even both.

The reason we've done that is that LSS, to put it bluntly, has become a mess over the past two years. To put it less bluntly and equally true, LSS was not adapted to the members and the activity of the forum.

With the current changes, we're not going to have the pretence to have the perfect answer to the members' expectations, but we're trying. By trial and error, we want to find out what's the best for you, as member, and us, as staff.

Now, what happened?

1. We have a calendar (it's pretty, it's neat, we're in love with it)! That wasn't really new since we toyed with it a week ago. Gone with the birthday-thread. If you fill in your birthday in your profile, your birthday will be automatically scheduled. You'll also notice there's a "Calendar" board. In there we'll create the "Events" to have them planned into our Calendar.
   
   
2. There's a stronger emphasize on the introduction and 20 posts-rule. We haven't cleaned up the members yet. That's not new either, but we like to fall into repetition about that one.
   
   What is new: We'll give everyone "a month of grace" (yeah, we watch too many drama's, we know that 49 days would be "funnier") in which you'll have to make sure that you met our requirements . If you didn't by the 30th October, your account will be purged.
   By "everyone" we mean everyone now present on the board and has no introduction and has under 20 posts, though they've joined more than a month ago.
   
   
3. Right now registration on the forum is closed. New members will be able to join starting the 1st October and they fall under the regular rules. So no special treatments for them.
   
   Yeah, we're being a bit Miss Hard-ass here.
   
   
4. Next is the "Tin-hatters' Society". A place for you to talk and bond. You'll see that the current threads in there are the ones which used to be in the "Anything Board".
   
   
5. Contest-board; cos we hope to have many of which in the future!
   
   
6. The Chem Lab is linked to that project which was suggested by Trice ----> click here.
   
   
7. We have a "Creativity Centre" dedicated only to Maotsjun. The Creativity Centre Outside Maotsujun has been deleted. If you want to read Asian fanfiction or fanfiction related to other fandoms, we'd like to recommend you: Asianfanfiction and World of Fanfiction.
   
   
8. In that creativity centre you will not only find the works of your dearest fanfiction writers or artists, but also a fanvid section, which will be open soon enough.
   
   
9. Then we have the "Outside Maotsujun discussions", divided into the following subjects: Celebrities (like actors and actresses), Music, Film & TV and otaku-stuff.
   
   
10. Finally, and you'd never guess it... Our Archives... Our Archives have also been cleaned up. Yes they have! If you don't believe us, check it out. You'll find the old non-mj fanfictions, old presentations etc in like their own boards.
    
    
11. As we've warned, most of the forum is locked and accessible for Tin-hatters only.

3. A proper homepage, finally!
   
4. And other stuff the writer of this post cannot remember... Probably. (I guess fit and rested staff-members will do).

If you want to contribute to the forum: just be fun, active, loving members. If you do that, we'd be squishing you with a bear hug and feed you with cookes.

Update: Starting post 21 you get your empty cookie-jar and can collect cookies by being active. It'll take a loooot of posts before you can get a full jar of cookies. :P (In human language: ranks are added, which are represented by a cookie jar pixel. The more you post, the more cookies will appear in that jar. :D)

Hello Trice and other mods!

I haven't done anything...mod-y in a while even though I've always been thinking about revamping the whole Jun board. As a part of "Op: Big Sweep" I would like to archive everything in Jun's board and starting "Part Two" for everything. I want to do this mainly because there are way too many people who are posting in the wrong posts and aren't really following the rules.

If there are no objections then this project of archiving will be done in the next two months :)

Aye! Sounds good. To be archived in "Old Stuff" (not using the "send to basket" tool, but the "move thread" tool).

UPDATE: After hours of coding: brand new homepage (finally). Optimzed with GC (I believe FF too, but I have yet to try all the possibilities).
The General information about the Hanadan Rewatch has also been posted!


NB: The Newsfeed should normally not lag the forum, tried some javascript magic. (Yeah, javascript )

Update: added more monkeys and normally you've all received a newsletter with some reminders.

We also broke our most users ever online record. We went from 58 to 62 (for now. All thanks to the good news we received today!)

I apologise for the past 1 month and a half. It must have been unpleasant for many of you. I apologise to the deleted members too.

I hope however that in spite of all this that the deleted will want to come back (and comply with our rules) and that the current members won't feel too intimidated to keep on having fun on the forum.

In any case: if you want to send hate-mail to vent, don't do that on Kyt's e-mail, neither on our cbox nor on our form spring/twitter. Just send it to: lovesosweet.forum[at]gmail[dot]com
Though they won't be answered (hating back, no can do), they'll be read.
